Recap

Quotes

“Just knowing my value and knowing that I am worth a certain price helps me a lot in the negotiation process.  So, I just figure that not underselling yourself and knowing your value is very important.” - Christal Jerez, Recording Engineer

“Right now, all across the industry- freelance [to] working for a company folks are not getting paid enough.  Let alone equal pay for women. It goes across the board LGBTQ, POCs, anybody this is marginalized- [sometimes] we don’t know how to negotiate, I didn’t,  but I know that everybody is hungry. That’s how I know that [the Equal Pay Gap] is real.” -TK, Audio Producer

“I’m not saying that they are trying to take advantage of us,  there are definitely budget constraints, but I feel like it’s always better to quote higher and then go down.  I [want] to always let them know my value and my worth. I’ve had people send me salary bands so that I know what I’m going into.” - Kathleen Adams, Entrepreneur

“It’s a constant struggle [when] a gentleman comes in without a degree, compared to your two degrees, with half your experience, making twice as much as you make.” - Yahnira Gonzalez, Education Coordinator

“There are such few women not making the top grossing movies, simply because they are just not given the funding.  And if they were, they would be doing amazing work.  That’s why we are here and that’s why we need to talk about this to share this type of information.” - Chloe Raynes, Director of Music

WHAT IS EQUAL PAY DAY?

Equal Pay Day is the symbolic day dedicated to raising awareness of the gender pay gap. In the United States, this date symbolizes how far into the year the average women must work in order to earn what the average man earns in the previous year regardless of experience or job type.

LATINA WOMEN'S EQPD

It is no secret that every woman deserves to be paid fairly, treated equally, and have the opportunity to achieve her dreams. However, in 2019, the pay gap between genders extends to November 20, which is Latina Women's Equal Pay Day.

EQUAL PAY IS COOLER

On Wednesday, November 20, 2019, we held a roundtable conversation at Aaptiv HQ in hopes of spreading awareness and finding solutions to shorten the gender pay gap. We invited women from various fields of expertise to join in a casual discussion about all of the Equal Pay Days and how it relates to their various career paths.
